1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They feature motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture leg. They also feature carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
Going On this page 's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's more expensive and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas in the home based on how dirty those areas are.
For larger homes it's recommended to choose models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Additionally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
